Teacher & Professional Development Consultations

Give your team the tools, skills, and confidence to bring outdoor learning into everyday practice. Toronto Nature School offers teacher and professional development sessions designed to support nature-based teaching, inquiry, and experiential learning across the K–8 curriculum.

Whether your school is beginning its outdoor learning journey or strengthening an existing program, we’re here to help with tailored solutions.

How It Works

Initial Site Assessment

During our first visit, we’ll collaborate with your staff to identify your school’s strengths and needs in regards to outdoor learning. We’ll conduct an audit of the schoolyard and assess the resources currently available.

Design and Resource Report

Following our initial consultation, our team will create a customized site plan that aligns with your programming needs for outdoor learning. You will receive a comprehensive report detailing site layouts for learning areas, storage solutions, purchase links, and recommendations for materials and resources.

Follow-Up Meeting

We’ll schedule a second meeting virtually with your staff and your TNS consultant to discuss the plan and outline the next steps to support your goals.

Risk Assessment Training for Staff

To illustrate best practices in risky play, TNS staff will facilitate an engaging hour-long lesson or activity with your students. This hands-on experience will showcase instructional approaches and the language used around risky play while connecting students with local nature.

TNS Staff Demonstration Lesson
