Toronto Nature School brings the wonders of nature directly to your school, transforming your schoolyard or available spaces into dynamic outdoor classrooms.

Our programs, led by Ontario Certified Teachers, Early Childhood Educators and experienced Nature School educators align with the Ontario Science and Technology curriculum and address cross-curricular expectations in Language, Math, and Social Studies.

Kindergarten – Grade 4 Animal Characteristics and Adaptations

Join us as we unlock some of the secrets of the animal kingdom and understand how adaptations play a crucial role in the survival of animals in their environments. During this exciting workshop, students will have the opportunity to observe and handle real and replica animal skulls and discover diverse ways animals have evolved to meet the challenges of their environment.

Kindergarten – Grade 4 Birds in Your Backyard

This engaging and interactive program is designed to give students some foundational knowledge about the fascinating world of birds. Students will differentiate some of the different bird calls they hear in your school yard, the names of common birds in the area, and make connections between the characteristics we share with birds and those that are different. Students will leave with a basic understanding of the bird species, their habitats and behaviours, and the importance of birds in our ecosystem.

Kindergarten – Grade 4 Wonderful Water

Dive into the fascinating world of water with this engaging hands-on program. Students will learn about the water cycle and its essential role in our environment and daily lives. Through engaging experiments and interactive discussions, participants will discover the science behind water filtration and the life cycle of water in Toronto. They will explore different materials and techniques to build their own water filters, turning dirty water into clean water right before their eyes.

Kindergarten – Grade 4 Digging Into Soil

Embark on an educational journey beneath our feet! Students will explore the components of soil, its vital role in our ecosystem, investigate the characteristics of different types of soil, and understand the impacts of erosion.

Grade 2 – 4 Survival Skills

This exciting and unique workshop will focus on teamwork and cooperation, while learning some essential survival skills for the forest. Students will play cooperative games, learn to tie a few essential knots, and put up a tarp to create a shelter. We will also learn to identify a few common helpful and harmful plants.

  • HALF-DAY VISIT: $250
    2 hours: 9:30-11:30 or 12:30-2:30

The Booking Process

After receiving your booking inquiry, we will be in touch within 3 business days to confirm your date, time, and any details. Once your booking is confirmed, you will receive an email with information on what students may need to prepare for the program, and an attached program waiver to be signed by program participant’s parents/guardians.
